BYOD Information Session

Dear Parents,

There will be a 1 to 1 MacBook BYOD information session for parents of year 2 students held on Wednesday 12th of November at 4pm in the 34 neighbourhood 1 performance space. The session will be the first of two sessions and it will provide information about our 1 to 1 MacBook program and the transition to a BYOD format in 2015. Parents of students who will be in year 3 in 2015 are invited to attend. Anita L'Enfant, a school council member and expert in BYOD programs, will be presenting at the session along with members of staff.  Please register your interest for this session with Julie at the office. We hope to see you there.

CERES Excursion

Last week the Year Two Neighbourhood went on excursion to CERES Community Environment Park. We had a fabulous time participating in four workshops: Worms and Minibeasts, Bin Sort and Plastic Fantastic, Paper Making and a walk on the Merri Creek.

Thank you to the parent helpers who joined us for the excursion - it was great to spend the day with you!

Here are some photos from the excursion:

Dear Parents,
Cara's dad, Farans De Vos is coming into the neighbourhood on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. after Book-talk to play music and sing with us.
He has donated copies of the music from the motion picture "Blinder". If you would like a copy of the CD please come in and collect it from Sia, Kevin or Elizabeth.
Thanks to Cara's Dad for his kind donation.

Things to look at...

Here are two great links for you to look at at home:

Storyline Online: Picture books read by actors. They are great stories, and read very well! Almost as good as Kevin!

Also, here is the link to the book that we read today about the ducks, Refugees by David Miller:

CARNIVAL / DISCO

Roll up, Roll up to our wonderful CARNIVAL/DISCO  Night – Friday 24th October from 6pm –8pm at the gym/back oval. We will have an evening of dancing and laughter. There will be a few surprises and some prizes for best costumes and dancers. You may impress us with a hoola hoop or create a magnificent mask – there will be something for everyone! Most importantly it is an opportunity to catch up with our wonderful community. Bring a picnic and a picnic blanket or chairs to sit on – we hope you can make it!

Email Kathryn atkathryn@jonestid.com.au if you have any questions.

Thank you
Kathryn Fraser

Welcome Back

Welcome back to term 4!

We are excited about our new whole school inquiry, Places: Who cares? What matters? - exploring Sustainability.  We have started our learning by identifying places that are important to us and what they mean to us.
The children created a mural in our neighbourhood depicting their favourite places and how they make them feel.
